With less than 2 weeks to go until ‘Tour de Stags’ kicks off and with finally some sunshine in the forecast there is chance for those last few long rides to make sure the legs are as ready as they can be….although, looking at the routes and the climbing, I am not so sure!
As well as the long endurance rides I’ve also been keen to keep the shorter interval workouts going, as I plan, after the challenge is complete, and after a few day’s rest, to get back racing in July with my 05/03 teammates. A local club 10 TT last week saw a PB, in what was cool and breezy conditions so that provided a great confidence boost. A big thank you to Adam at Holohan Coaching who has been a great support and really kept me on track to help achieve my goals this season.
As always it’s all a juggling act with life, family and striking the balance ensuring you don’t burn out but also making sure you are doing enough. Its also key not to forget the fundamentals when it comes to ensuring you have enough energy in the tank, so fuelling while riding as this also takes practice and forms part of training. For the big challenge, we’ve already been working on our requests for colleagues who will be provide the fuel as we stop off at offices along the way!
I am sure many reading this have been affected or know someone that has been affected by Cancer which is such a this terrible disease. With this in mind and if you would like to help us to help the charities who are supporting people day in, day out we really would appreciate any donations towards our cycle efforts. We’ve worked out we’ll have climbed Mount Everest by the time we finish!
